Making a Memorable Home
At Oza Studio we both design and build homes. We think of the home as an instrument of shelter. We believe that the simple act of walking through a well-designed home, as it responds to the passing day and perennial seasons, should be a worthy experience in and of itself. For us, the home is an ambient environment that suffuses our lives with the essential elements for balancing and recharging.
Nilay Oza
Principal
Nilay finds creative expression in the many contrasts and contradictions of his field. He is an architect who finds inspiration as a builder. He is a consummate insider who has worked for fifteen years on the East End, yet brings an outsider’s perspective informed by his upbringing in India.
Before founding Oza Studio, Nilay was the co-founder and design principal of Oza Sabbeth Architecture, a partnership with Peter Sabbeth. During this period he developed and led the architectural direction of the firm, defining the modern, detail-driven aesthetic that became its signature and continues to inform his work today.
Along with professional work, Nilay believes in the civic benefit of healthy communities. Among other pro-bono ventures, he has served on the board of the American Institute of Architects, Peconic Chapter, serving as president in 2021.
Nilay is a licensed architect with a Master’s Degree in Architecture from MIT. He lives with his wife and two daughters in Sag Harbor.
